VOSTRO 7510 - EFI directory in ESP partition filling up with dell.xx directories (prevents Windows updates)

Hi,

I had my Vostro 7510 for a while, still running Windows 10 Pro, and recently, I noticed that it was failing when it was trying to do Windows Updates.

I finally figured out what was causing the problem... the ESP partition had 0 bytes left.

I was able to fix the problem by moving partitions around and increasing the size of the ESP partition from 200 to 700 MB, so now I am trying to understand why the ESP partition got full in the first place, and I found that the "EFI" directory in the ESP partition has a bunch (like 30 of them) of "dell.xx" directories ("dell.00" through "dell.29" at this time).

What could be causing all of those dell.xx files to be created, and ALSO, can I delete some of the older ones to prevent the ESP partition from getting full again and the Windows updates failing?

Thanks,

Jim

EDIT:  Here's a screenshot of what the EFI directory in the ESP partition looks like now.  From testing, it looks like one new dell.xxx directory gets added every time I go to the Dell Support site and log in.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.
