5401 Battery work time - any sense of replacement?

Dear community,

I have a Dell Latitude 5401 laptop. The battery is 3HWPP, 68Wh, 15.2V.

In Dell Power Manager, the battery condition is medium (2 out of 4 dots).

If I run a report via cmd powercfg/batteryreport, the design capacity is 68005 mWh, and the full charge capacity is only 32619 mWh.

Does it make sense to replace the battery with a new one?

Currently, at work, I use a web browser, Visual Code Studio, and Excel; the laptop works only for 3–4 hours.

- How many hours can I expect on a brand new battery?

- Do you have any experience with this model, and how long should the battery last?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Lukas

The battery has lost half its capacity, so a brand new OEM battery should double those runtimes.

If you're still getting 3-4 hours out of a battery in a 2019 model system, that's actually quite reasonable -- but if you need more time off AC power, by all means replace the battery.

Most notebook batteries will run 2-3 years before they lose enough charge that many will replace them.
