Are usb-c docks compatible with my Inspiron 5480?
Hey there! I'm kinda new to docks technology and wanted a good dock for my laptop (Inspiron 5480) to save some space and declutter my desk to have a minimal look. However, I'm having a hard time finding a right one and not really sure if this laptop supports thunderbolt docks or other usb-c docks. I did some research and found the Dell docks compatibility pdf (https://www.delltechnologies.com/asset/en-in/products/electronics-and-accessories/technical-support/dell_docking_compatibility_guide.pdf) on the website but couldn't find anything mentioned about this particular model. Need some help regarding this.
Also, I was wondering if it supports PD charging via type-c port like modern laptops do. Like if I can replace that bulky 65w brick supplied with my laptop with a 65W PD charger. (again nothing about this is mentioned in the product guide)

It may be the system can charge over USB-C then -- it's just not spelled out in the system manual.

The system does not have Thunderbolt - -it has only USB 3.1 type C. There being no mention of power over the USB-C port, the safest assumption is that it does not support power/charging over USB-B. The system will do video out over USB-C, though, so you can connect a monitor to a dock.

@ejn63 But when I try connecting a standard samsung 20w charger (shipped with their smartphones earlier) to the usb-c port of this laptop, The windows gives me a notification/warning to connect a source which can charge at (>27w). This indicates that windows does identify the source and can charge when I supply anything over 27w. What do you think about it?

@ejn63 yeah, that is possible. I'll try charging it with a 65w PD charger from a local electronics store if they have one and then get one if my laptop supports it, and a dock as well. Thankyou for your time buddy.
