m17 R1, lower fps even on visual novel games

I own a alienware m17 R1 I got from my family who used it for a few years already, I'm aware that its not new and its performance might not be the best, but I do not expect it to be this bad, since its just a few years old. I first ran doom 2016 with it, it has high fps at the menu but once i get in game it immediately dips to around 14 fps, its fps still remained around 20-30 after I adjust the resolution. my biggest complain though is the fps when i use it to play ace attorney, is incredibly unstable and only has 30-50 fps at lowest resolution, and it was a visual novel game. i tried playing aa on my family's working laptop, and even that did better than this laptop. is it just wearing out or its originally like that, since i also see people complaining about it.

also tried multiple solutions like setting long boost tdp or changing settings and stuff, none really works except for lowering resolution of the actual game

If the system has never had a thorough internal cleaning and replacement of the heatsink pads, that's long overdue -- and should help the situation.

Yes - they do dry out and lose their ability to help transfer heat from the CPU/GPU to the heatsink.
